The Reason Drugstore Lotions DON’T Work
If you’re looking for an anti-aging lotion to apply to your face in the quest for supple, younger-looking skin, you’re facing a dizzying array of choices and promised results. Many people (including some experts) will tell you that it doesn’t matter which product you pick, since all that matters is that you apply a moisturizing lotion to your skin to help retain moisture and keep skin from looking dried-out and wrinkled.
In part, that is true. However, there is a great deal more to the equation.
Any old lotion, including the cheapest drugstore brands, will help your skin retain moisture. And yes, moisturizing is a key component of making your skin look younger.
However, a standard drugstore formulation will moisturize your skin only temporarily, and only topically. That is to say, when you apply the lotion to your face, your face will look and feel moisturized only while that lotion is present. And the part of your skin that is moisturized is only the part that is in contact with the lotion – i.e., the outermost layer of skin.
What’s wrong with that?
Well, nothing, except that a drugstore cream won’t do anything to stop or reverse the effects of aging. All it will do is make your skin feel temporarily hydrated; yet your wrinkles will continue to deepen, your skin will continue to lose firmness, your pores will continue to widen, and your skin’s elasticity will continue to decline due to collagen loss.
To counteract these ubiquitous and inescapable effects of aging, a more sophisticated formulation is required – one that includes the right ingredients to promote subcutaneous re-growth of healthy skin; in effect tackling the problem of aging at the cellular level.
An interesting new product out of Switzerland called Kollagen Intensiv contains a patented peptide known as SYN-COL that has been clinically proven to increase the skin’s production of natural collagen. The product also contains all the anti-oxidants and polypeptides of the best anti-aging formulas, plus the essential retinol and hyaluronic acid – key ingredients to look for in any anti-aging formula.
But it is the addition of SYN-COL that puts this product head and shoulders above the rest, as it works to not only promote collagen production but also to repair damage from the sun and other elements; thereby eradicating the two major contributors to the aging process.
A clinical study wherein volunteers applied SYN-COL twice daily to their faces for 84 days reported a 354 percent improvement in the overall appearance of their wrinkles in comparison to the placebo group, and a 210 percent improvement in skin texture.
But perhaps the best thing about this ground-breaking new formula is that it is not branded under a leading name and is available online; and as such is a small fraction of the cost of the extremely expensive products manufactured by the major cosmeceutical lines today.
